Besa Gordon and Angela Poe Russell 60th annual NATAS NW Emmy Awards at Fremont Studios in Seattle, Washington

When Angela Poe Russell met Besa Gordon, she was immediately intrigued.

“We totally hit it off!,” Russell said. “It was clear she had hustle and a strong work ethic and I noticed instantly her willingness to be herself. That was refreshing!”

Russell, The Executive Producer of Pacific Northwest TV’s newest show, Back2Besa, brings a wealth of broadcast experience to Converge media. In addition to her work in front of the camera, she and her colleagues won a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Innovation for her role in KING 5’S Take 5.

With Back2Besa, she’s excited to take on a new challenge and push the envelope on network television.

“There aren’t many opportunities in this industry to really experiment,” Russell said. “One of the things I’m looking forward to most with Back2Besa is really continuing to meet viewers where they’re at and coming up with new ways to engage with them..”

Russell feels honored to work with Converge Media’s award winning team, and says it’s refreshing to be able to work with people who have an interest in pushing the boundaries of media and its role in the community.

“Everything Converge has accomplished really stood out to me,” Russell said. “It’s such a dynamic environment, and even with everything I bring to the table, I feel like I’m continually learning as well.”

A few of those signature innovations on Back2Besa include exciting segments like #NeverHaveIEver, which will put people in a situation to do something they’ve never done and viewers get to go along for the ride, and YouthUNFILTERED which gives young people a platform to talk about issues that matter to them.

“With this show we really want to create an engaging experience,” Russell said. “I think we have a unique opportunity to bring people into both Besa’s world and the Pacific Northwest as a whole.”

She’s also excited to help showcase and amplify Besa’s voice in this community.

“I’ve been in a lot of different roles in television,” Russell said. “Being able to work on something like this and really support someone who I believe in so much is amazing.”

Make sure to catch the premiere of Back2Besa on FOX 13 Seattle on July 1st at 10:30 p.m.
