Art at 933 Feet: Besa Gordon Taps in at the Columbia Tower’s Sip And Shop Event
Besa Gordon tapped in at the Columbia Tower Club’s SipNShop Art Expo, which featured local artists displaying and selling their work alongside local food and drink options. The event featured a wide variety of art, from painting to sculpture and even candles and gems.
“We have a mix of everything. This is like a night market at this point,” Columbia Tower Member Experience Manager Erica Carraway said. “I think it’s really important that we get eyes on the art at a place where people are embracing the energy.”
One of the artists pretest, Painter Christopher Coleman, said the chance to showcase his work on the 76th floor was impactful and inspirational.
“I just always try to stay inspired and progress to new levels,” Coleman said. “Success here really starts with networking. If you’re a beginning artist, just start creating a platform and coming to events like this.”
Food was provided by Beats & Eats, a Filipino food truck serving dynamic and delicious dishes. Chef Jasmine Patton said being invited to serve her food at the Columbia Tower was a unique and exciting experience.
“It’s my first time here,” Patton said. “It’s been amazing to be on the top floor with a bunch of Seattle creatives and it really is an honor.”
There was also a variety of live art taking place during the event, with artists creating paintings and sculptures while attendees looked on. For Carraway, working to create environments and events like this pushes the creative scene forward and highlights the art scene in Seattle.
“I think our local artists deserve the brightest of lights,” Carraway said.
