From Farmers Markets to Full Plates: Simply Soulful Café's Journey
Simply Soulful Café's newest location in the Central Area on 23rd and Jackson is the perfect place to go for some good old soul food to help take your mind off of the cold and, at times, gloomy weather here in Seattle. After relocating their restaurant to 23rd and Jackson, the new location offers twice the capacity of their original location in Madison Valley, with an upstairs meeting space, additional seating, and a parking garage.
Owners Barbara Collins and Lillian Rambus (who are mother and daughter by the way) were inspired to start a restaurant and started by selling pies at famers' markets, after opening up their first location in 2014, they've found a new home on 23rd and Jackson.
"Me and my mother were both inspired and wanted to open up some kind of food business started out selling my grandma's recipe, we potato pie at the farmers market, and as time just went on time and just popped up, and we ended up down in Madison in 2014." Said Rambus.
Simply Soulful's menu includes any time breakfast, lunch, and dinner options with traditional soul food eats like catfish, gumbo, chicken, pork chops, mac and cheese, red beans and rice, yams, and, of course, their pies. This week, we take a moment to learn more about the story behind Simply Soulful Cafe.
