BESA GORDON HEADS TO BOISE FOR THE NATAS NW STORYTELLING WORKSHOP

#BesaInBoise - “Sometimes, when you have the vision of something great, you have to make the journey from where you’re at to where you want to be.” - Besa Gordon, host of #Back2Besa.

Last week, Gordon traveled to Boise for the NATAS NW Storytelling Workshop, which featured some of the Northwest’s top media professionals as well as up-and-comers looking to hone their skills.

“I’m very excited to be here. We have all sorts of people here who all have one thing in common, which is that we’re all storytellers,” NATAS NW Chairwoman of Scholarships KD Hall said. “That’s the reason we’re here is to learn and give.”

NATAS NW President Greg Theis said that the goal of the event was to be inspirational and educational, and encourage the progress of television arts.

Idaho News 6 reporter Jessica Davis left the event re-energized in her mission to serve her community through reporting and storytelling.

“I left going okay, maybe I should keep going. It gave me a lot of confidence,” Davis said.

KING 5 Seattle Reporter Cornelius Hooker said that the workshop was an opportunity for people to work on their skills and emphasized the accessibility of good storytelling, saying that the barrier to entry has never been lower.

“You can do this - you have your phone,” Hookers said. “You have so much opportunity and potential to blow up and be viral if you want. You can do whatever you want and there’s room for everyone.”

NATAS NW Storyteller Event Organizer Nicole Sanchez was proud of the turnout, and emphasized the community aspects of the event, saying that as a non-profit event it was organized with the goal of giving back to the next generation as well as inspiring the next generation.

“It’s about collaboration and learning from one another, and we’re thrilled to be able to offer this to the community,” Sanchez said.
