In a room full of radio stars, Besa Gordon shines bright in Chicago

Besa Gordon hosts the Social Media Masterclass panel at the Morning Show Boot Camp in Chicago

Converge Media’s Pop-Culture Queen Besa Gordon made a splash in Chicago on Thursday when she hosted the first panel of the 2022 Morning Show Boot Camp. The MSBC is a convention which brings together radio hosts, executives, producers and suppliers for two days of networking and education. Gordon’s panel was titled Social Media Masterclass: The New Rules of Engagement, and featured Chris Cruise, Miguel & Holly, E White, Crystal Rosas & Ashlee Young.

“It was really good,” Gordon said. “It was one of those things where I've never been in a room with that many people in radio. It’s an event where just about everyone that you need to know, ends up being there.”

Gordon linked the experience to her own Real Seattle Media Mixers, saying that it was exciting to be part of a mixer-type environment where she could pick up valuable advice, information and connections.

“It really was like my mixers but on a larger scale,” Gordon said. “When you go to these things, it’s really all of the who’s-who’s. It’s definitely worth getting there and making connections in person.”

She also said her experience hosting panels at her own mixers was critical to her success at the MSBC.

“I was able to use some of the questions that I knew were impactful here in Seattle and then take them down to Chicago and kind of make them a little more radio-related,” Gordon said.

She also was able to connect with Tino Cochino, a radio host she’s looked up to and who’s show was syndicated on KUBE 93.3 right before Gordon had her show.

When he came over to KUBE, I really paid attention to everything his team was doing, how they do their hosts, how they're listening to their fans,” Gordon said. “I really learned a lot from him and how he moved.”

The experience was a successful one for Gordon, as she brought her unique flair to the MSBC stage.

“Apparently everyone said I did a great job and I set the tone well,” Gordon said.
