Converge host Takiyah TDUB Ward launches new sneaker venture

This latest venture from the Art Queen of Converge has been years in the making.

Takiyah TDUB Ward started painting sneakers in high school. Over her 20 year career, she has customized sneakers for everyone from babies to grandparents, performers to athletes and everyone in between. And now she takes her skills to new heights with "The Re-Sole". The Re-Sole will be Seattle's first dry-cleaner for sneakers!! Yes you read that right. Offering drop off service at a state of the art facility, The Re-Sole is sure to become a must stop shop for all sneaker enthusiasts. How many pairs of shoes sit in your closet unworn for one reason or another? How many kicks get passed up because they've seen better days? Or are completely unwearable but you just can't give them up. Well, keep those kicks in rotation with cleaning, restoration and customization services offered at The Re-Sole.

"I can't tell you all how excited I am for this shop to become a reality. I've been working on shoes in my living room up until now. I definitely owe my mom a carpet cleaning or two from all the paint I've spilled. But it's support like hers and all my family, friends and community that lets me know this is not only possible, it's supported. The Re-Sole will  be a place of creativity and inventiveness. Of possibility and learning. And I can't wait for you all to see!!!” Ward says.

The official website launched on Sunday June 19th. With the website launch came the "RE-SOLE SUPPORT CAMPAIGN" which offers a capsule collection of items available for purchase. Each item acts as a "receipt of your support for BLACK WOMAN ARTIST OWNED 'TOWN BIZNESS". Never one to shy away from who she is, where she's from or who got her here, "the support of the people is most important to me because my art, my passion is service based. My hope is to provide my community with the means to express, educate and share with one another through sneaker care and art. It's gotten me so far I can only imagine what it could do for someone else."

TDUB is ready to show the world what she's made of and share her knowledge with the next generation.
