Converge Media releases latest short film Finding Go: The Legacy of Adé Hogue

Finding Go is a film documenting the life and legacy of Broderick Adé Hogue. An art director, designer and letterer, Hogue’s influence was felt in many spheres across the country and even around the world. One of Hogue’s crowning achievements was creating the lettering for Our Commitment, a specially-designed 737 commissioned by Alaska Airlines in partnership with the United Negro College Fund to showcase their commitment to racial equality and education. By the time of Hogue’s death in the fall of 2021, he had impacted countless individuals through his presence and work. He is described as a true friend, an outgoing soul, and someone with an energy that made people want to be around him. This film chronicles his life from his early years in Asheville, NC, his college days at UNC Charlotte, and through his eventual move to Chicago as his development into one of the best hand letterers of his generation.

“I am honored that we got to share a snapshot of our son’s life with everyone through the lens of this film. I am so overwhelmed & humbled by the love shown to myself, my family & for my beloved son Broderick,” Vanessa Hogue, Adé’s mother, said.

The film premiered on Thursday, September 1st at the convocation event for the UNC Charlotte College of Arts and Architecture. The film honors the inspirational life of designer Adé Hogue, a groundbreaking letterer and graphic designer who was a featured designer in Converge’s film about Alaska Airlines’ Our Commitment aircraft last summer. Hogue created the lettering which adorns the side of the airplane, adding a striking message to a beautiful design.

“Truly amazing is the feeling that I had during the premiere. How his story was displayed touched me in the bottom of my heart. My hat goes off to people from Coverage Media for how everything was put together in such an inspiring way,” Adé’s father Ben Houge said.

The film joins a growing library of content produced by Converge Media. CEO and Founder Omari Salisbury spoke to the impact of this piece on the company.

“Making this film was truly one of the greatest achievements in our company's 6 year history. We’re hopeful that this film will not only give insights on Adé’s life, but also will encourage people to support Adé’s scholarship fund,” Salisbury said.

To support the legacy of Broderick Adé Hogue, consider donating to the Broderick Adé Hogue Memorial Scholarship Fund which will be given to UNC Charlotte students, majoring in Graphic Design or Studio Art, with a demonstrated commitment to promoting opportunities for Black, Indigenous, or People of Color.
