Converge Media welcomes JC aka DJ Humble

When JC moved into the world of DJing five years ago, he knew he wanted to get outside the bounds of a traditional 9-5 life. Now working for the Mariners and as iHeart Radio promotions director, JC is moving even further in his quest as he joins Converge Media as our newest on-air talent.

“It’s been a really good thing,” JC said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to elevate myself and make an impact in the community.”

Since arriving in Seattle at the age of 14, JC has worked to build a platform and a reputation which allows him to positively impact the youth. This was on full display when he joined Besa Gordon at the Moore Theater for STG’s Elevate. JC’s Converge debut was exciting for him because he was able to inspire and nurture young individuals.

“It was very spiritually inspiring because we don’t hear that a lot. There’s not a lot for the youth to do anymore,” JC said. “I wish there had been things like that when I was a kid.”

The event was especially meaningful for JC because he was able to work alongside Gordon, who initially brought him to Converge. He credits the Pop Culture Queen and their conversations at iHeart with connecting him to Converge CEO Omari Salisbury and putting him on the path to becoming an on-air talent.

“I wouldn’t be where I am with Converge without Besa,” JC said. “I was talking to her because I felt like I have not maximized my potential and she introduced me to Omari.”

That segment aired on The Day With Trae, where JC was able to talk about his experiences and excitement. You can watch that segment above.

JC is just getting started in what he hopes is the start of a long and fruitful connection with Converge. He has broad interests and is open to any chance to make a positive impact on the lives of young people. One of his major goals is to allow kids to feel empowered to share their stories even if they might be scared. He says building a community of youth who are connected and ambitious is critical.

“Don’t be afraid to make mistakes,” JC said. “You really do learn and grow from them. Life is like a double dutch - jump in there and you might get smacked with the rope a couple times but you have to keep moving your feet and don’t stop.”
