Hosted by Lake Union Partners at the Midtown Square the Dr. James Washington Jr & Mrs. Janie Rogella Washington Foundation unveiled a beautiful bronze statue in honor of Dr. Washington. With design assistance from artist Barry Johnson, the statue is in the likeness of the late poet sculptor and historian and faces his fountain that was a staple of the corner of 23rd and Union.

The event for the unveiling featured remarks from members of the foundation, a proclamation from Mayor Harrell, poetry from Carletta Carrington Wilson, and food by Ms. Helens Soul Bistro! #WWConverge #CentralDistrict #BlackMediaMatters
