Keita Williams joined The Day with Trae to talk about entrepreneurship and how to start a business

Keita Williams is the CEO of Success Bully. The brand started as a group of friends looking out for each other and evaluating each other's daily progress.

"My passion comes down to ‘we can achieve our goals,’ and you are 95% more likely to achieve your goals when you have consistent accountability," said Keita. "What it's kind of turned into is being more of a business coach."

With determination and commitment, she was able to grow her business, which started as a side hustle, into a full-time job.

"It started as a side hustle, and I was able to scale it through doing corporate workshops and coaching, and now it's my full-time job," Keita stated.

Keita believes that there is enough time to start a business regardless of one's busy schedules. Success Bully provides coaching platforms to individuals and groups on how to scale to establish their businesses.

"I have one-on-one coaching with individual CEOs on scaling and optimizing... and then I have group coaching that's more of my passion project, which is helping other side hustlers transition out of corporate."

The pandemic era provides a good time for Black women to leverage their side hustles.

"If you are toying with the idea of a side hustle, now is the time; I think there are so many resources out there; there's a space for us, and I think especially for Black women," said Williams.

Speaking about the appropriate time to make a leap, Williams suggested that one master what makes them money before exiting their corporate employment.

"I suggest that first you master what makes you money," said Keita. "’What are the things that you need to do everyday that make you money?’ And once you kind of have an understanding of that and you have a strong pipeline that is predictable, you know that if you turn this knob, these are my results. That's when I would say, ‘Start thinking about your exit’."

She also pointed out the available options to be considered when transitioning from corporate to personal business.

"You could go to your boss and say I want to go down to 80%, or maybe I need to step down to 50%." "You don't have to go cold turkey on your corporate career," affirmed Williams.
