PHOTOS: Solid Ground’s Anniversary Gala: 50 Years of Transformative Community Service

50 years is a long time, and in Solid Ground’s case, it’s a testament to how long they have been working to eradicate poverty in our greater Seattle community. Last week, Solid Ground celebrated its 50th Anniversary Gala, reflecting on the impactful work done over the years and the stories of those they have helped.

At the event, I had the pleasure of speaking with key figures in the building that night, including Solid Ground CEO Shalimar Gonzales, their Board Chair Mary Ruffin, their Advocacy Director Marcy Bowers, keynote speaker Omari Salisbury, CEO of Converge Media, and more.

Solid Ground, formerly known as the Fremont Public Association (FPA), was established in 1974 to address poverty in Seattle. Over the years, it has evolved to offer a range of services, from food pantries to housing and youth development programs, with a focus on removing barriers and promoting equitable opportunities.

During the gala, donors raised an impressive $300,000, enabling Solid Ground to further its life-changing mission. Stay tuned for the full event coverage on Back2Besa and Converge Media platforms.

A big shoutout to Solid Ground for their ongoing commitment to empowering our community members to thrive.
