Seahawks Spread Joy and Delight at CD Panthers Game
The Seattle Seahawks brought surprise and delight to the community last week when they visited the CD Panthers for their game at Judkins Park against B12. Seahawks Community Engagement Manager Kyle Dougherty was on hand as the organization brought swag, dancers, their mascot Blitz and current players Tre Brown and Dareke Young. Brown, who had a critical pick six in Sunday’s win over Lions, said coming out to the field was impactful and inspiring.
“It always feels good to come out here, and you guys make everything feel like home,” Brown said.
Dougherty said that inspiring the youth is at the core of the organization and that he hopes they can make a difference through outreach.
“It’s all about showing these young people that they matter and that this game matters,” Dougherty said.
The visit followed up a $100,000 donation from the King County Council on behalf of D’Vonne and Keanna Pickett, which was presented in August by Council Members Girmay Zahilay and Rod Dembowski along with Seahawks VP of Community Engagement and Legends Mario Bailey.
“Mario and Girmay spent time working on this, and we made a promise to bring some surprise and delight to the kids,” Dougherty said.
The Seahawks also presented a check for $1,000 to the program to go towards equipment and increasing access for youth to play.
