Thanks To Defy Wrestling, I’m A Wrestling Fan Again!

Besa Gordon - Fun fact about me. Growing up, I looovvveeeddd wrestling. I literally would stay up late watching wrestling matches and keeping up with the storylines. And if you didn't have cable growing up like me, eventually you became frustrated because, over time, most of your favorite WWE wrestlers moved over to RAW, making it super hard to follow the timelines, which honestly makes watching the match less enjoyable. It's hard to explain why, but if you're a wrestling fan, you know what I mean. Wrestling is like our very own version of a "soap opera." Miss two episodes and the whole storyline is off. Oh, and let's not forget the paper view matches. Come Monday, if you didn't have the luxury of watching, you were a sad cookie trying to figure out what happened over the weekend.

I say all this because it's been YEARS since I even thought about wrestling. I honestly lost interest once all of my favorites moved over to RAW, and I couldn't watch them anymore. Until Saturday.

So after my interview with Swerve Strickland before his Undisputed DEFY Championship Ladder Match, he invited me to come down to the match at Washington Hall. And what a match it was!

I loved the energy of the Defy fans, it truly felt like I was at a Seahawks game. The fans were so dope, the wrestlers were on point, and I even learned some of the chants by the end of the night. I never thought in my 30s I would say going to a wrestling match is something I'm looking forward to coming January, but if I said I haven't already started thinking about my outfit, I would be lying.

If you fell out of love with wrestling as a child like I did, I suggest you come to the next Defy match that's happening on 12/14 or the big one happening on 01/03 at Climate Pledge Arena. In the meantime, see photos from the last Saturday's Undisputed DEFY Championship Ladder Match that happened at Washington Hall.
