TOMORROW: Boon Boona Coffee Set to Open New Location at the University Book Store
Local business Boon Boona coffee is hosting the grand opening for their newest location on Monday at 10 am at the University of Washington’s University Book Store. Located at the site previously occupied by The Book Store Cafe, Boon Boona will serve their African specialty coffee to a broader community.
Based in Renton, owner Efrem Fesaha roasts exclusively African-grown coffee beans at his shops. Fesaha aims to bring the coffee culture that he experienced during a visit to Eritrea, where his family has roots, to his shops in the Seattle area. This store is the next step in that journey, as he looks to expand and continue to build equity in the community at home and abroad.
“We want to say thank you to all those who helped get us to this point to celebrate the opening of our University Bookstore location on University Avenue, and I want to have a great celebration,” Fesaha said.
The shop features artwork by local artist Yeggy Michael and the architecture was done by La Union Studio.
The festivities start at 10 am Monday with free swag for the first visitors as well as a champagne toast at 1 pm, and continue throughout the week.
