Trae Holiday Uplifts the Therapy Fund Foundation and Black Philanthropy Month on Good Day Seattle

Trae Holiday, filling in for Besa Gordon, joined Erin Mayovsky on Good Day Seattle on FOX 13 yesterday to discuss Black Philanthropy Month and the Therapy Fund Foundation. Holiday shared her enthusiasm for the foundation's work, highlighting their second annual "Reclaiming Wellness" event at Green River College. The event focused on promoting well-being and mental health for people of color, a mission that the Therapy Fund Foundation is dedicated to.

During the interview, a clip from the event was shown, featuring speakers emphasizing the importance of reclaiming wellness as a birthright and the need for culturally intelligent therapeutic practices. Dr. Joy Degruy's powerful quote from an African proverb, "If a child is not embraced by his village, he will burn it down to feel the warmth," resonated deeply with Holiday, who connected it to the rise in gun violence and the feelings of disconnection with youth within some of our communities.

August is recognized as Black Philanthropy Month, and Holiday encouraged viewers to seek out and support Black-led organizations doing valuable work in their communities. She emphasized that everyone has a voice and the power to be part of the solution by contributing their time, talent, or treasure to causes they care about.

Holiday's passion for community involvement and her belief in the collective impact of individual actions shone through during the interview. She left viewers with a call to action, urging them to get involved and support organizations like the Therapy Fund Foundation that are making a positive difference in the lives of people of color.
