If you know Chef Trey Lamont of The Jerk Shack, one thing for sure you know is that he is all about walking the talk. What he has been talking and walking for years at his Jerk Shack restaurant in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood is having as many Black suppliers as possible. From the Metier Beer on all of his taps and Uncle Nearest Whiskey on the shelves to the Herban Farmer Hot Honey, the Boon Boona Coffee in the pot, and even the art on the walls, Lamont’s intentionality around promoting Black business is very apparent.

In keeping with his “I can show you better than I can tell you attitude'' attitude, Trey Lamont has made the bold move of removing his current wine selection and replacing it with all Black-owned wines. The first wine up is from Frichette, a Black-owned winery located in Benton County in Eastern Washington.

Lamont is making a statement with wine bottles that make a statement all their own. On several of the Frichette bottles are stunning images of Black women emblazoned upon them.

“We want to be intentional because no other restaurant in this state that I know of has the fortitude to take all the old school wines from Europe off of those shelves and replace them with a Black winery to promote change,” said Lamont

“No one's wanting to do that, but we are because we're about that life. You know, we practice what we preach. We want to change the narrative and be a part of that change. 100% representation matters” ads Lamont.
