Wa Na Wari Game Night Brings Community Together

Wa Na Wari hosted a game night and community mixer with games, art, and music on Friday night as they continue to create space for the Black community to come together. The event was designed and hosted by Event Coordinator Soulma Ayers and featured the world-famous sounds of DJ Topspin.

“Calling yourself single in Seattle is really interesting,” Ayers said. “We want people to have conversations that aren’t about who you know or what you do, but how you play cards or handle dominos. You can’t trust a table flipper.”

The event was structured to have a house party feel and Ayers wanted individuals to feel at home as soon as they entered. She said the event wasn’t just for singles in the dating scene, but also for anyone who wanted to come and meet people in the community. If you’re interested in attending something like this, Ayers said to be on the lookout.

“This will definitely not be our last. We hope that the buzz and energy gets out, and we’re going to have a lot of different events for Black singles in Seattle to do,” Ayers said.
