WEIRD at NIGHT: Episode 233

Another Saturday, another WEIRD at NIGHT, another celebration of abstraction, of creativity, of community. Live at 10pm PT on January 21st, via Converge Media’s Facebook page, we’ve got music videos from Seattle stalwarts La Fonda and sonic healer ByHaze. We’re diving deep in to the work of legendary video artist Nam June Paik. We’ll share 5 choice northwest music cuts from NadaMucho.com, hear from Terry Monstrosity and NOTOFORSALE and experience yet more public access insanity from years past.

But that’s not all! WEIRD at NIGHT is nothing without our calamitous cast of characters! And this week, we’ll be rejoined by soft rock psychopath Ryan Bryan, who seems to think he’s good enough at guitar to grift our audience in to paying him to teach guitar (spoiler: he’s not good at guitar). Whatever happens the results promise to be hilarious. We’ll also check back in with Steve Germany, Shoe Detective, who has spent weeks trapped in a flashback. Will it reveal more clues that can free him? Meanwhile, his assistants, Suave and Pickle, along with McGruff and his doppelgänger McBrad, will continue to try and make sense of both the Barefoot Messiah (voiced by Converge host Deaunte Damper) and Trae Hallowen (the doppleganger of Converge fixture Trae Holiday) and their (potentially sinister) motivations!

And that’s not all. WEIRD at NIGHT is entirely interactive. Hosted by Patrick Galactic, the chat guides the flow of the show. Viewers answer and ask questions that Patrick responds to in real time. At the end of every episode, Patrick leads the audience through the Autowrite, an activity that encourages participants to trust their unconscious creative impulses.

Art is for everyone and diversity is essential at WEIRD at NIGHT. It’s important to feature Black, Asian, Latinx, Indigenous, LGBTQ+ artists, artists with disabilities, people from all places, experiences, and ways of life.  This is a live stream for the late night disenfranchised, and it’s weird as f***.
