#YouthUnfiltered - Besa Gordon Brings Seattle Rotary Lady Style Basketball Team to the Storm Game

#YouthUnfiltered - This week on #Back2Besa’s Youth Unfiltered, Besa Gordon brought the Seattle Rotary Lady Style Basketball team to the final Seattle Storm game of the season. While there, they witnessed Jewell Loyd make history by setting the WNBA single season record for points scored with 939. It was an inspirational and motivational day for the girls, who are some of the most talented youth basketball players in the Emerald City.

“We’re very adamant about keeping the doors open for the community in South Seattle and the Central District,” Coach Tasha Burns said. “We’re all volunteers, and we’re giving back to the community and the chance to play competitive basketball with coaches that will coach them to their potential.”

The team also got to walk through the tunnel and meet some of the players. For them, the bonding was important as they gear up for their season.

“We haven’t gotten to play together since July since everyone has different schedules,” Shooting Guard Alexis said.

Lloyd, who recently signed a two year extension with the Storm, was a favorite of many of the girls on the team.

“The way she plays is amazing,” Ella Mcclaia said. “She’s my favorite.”

The outing created a lasting moment for the girls and the program, with Burns emphasizing the impact on the team.

“At the end of the day, rotary and Lady Style is community. We want us to be a family,” Burns said.
