Recently on The Day with Trae, Logic Amen, an Artist, advocate, writer, and educator, came to the Black Media Matters Studio to talk about the work and history of his organization, the Griot Party. The Griot Party, founded in 2016, is a 'hip hop spoken word storytelling theatre' and collective made up of storytellers and artists focused on community healing, which most recently invited attendees to partake in the 'The Griot Party Experience' at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute this past January.

Trae Holiday sat down with Sam Cho, the Director of Strategic Initiatives for the Office of Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, and Ollie Garrett, the President and CEO of Tabor 100. Both the City of Seattle and Tabor 100 are core partners in Seattle's Liberty Project, a program and component of Mayor Harrell's Downtown Activation Plan created in 2023 that focuses on aiding local businesses from underrepresented communities, particularly BIPOC, to grow in revenue and expand both business ventures and properties.

Last week on The Day with Trae, guest host Deaunte Damper sat down with Jessie Howard, the Director of Community Engagement at the Therapy Fund Foundation, a Washington-based nonprofit focused on "eliminating barriers to Black healing" and providing mental health services and resources for the Black community, free of charge. Recently, the organization partnered with Pierce County Health Department to provide mental health services for youth who are being directly affected by the Fentanyl crisis. 

Last week on The Day with Trae, guest host Deaunte Damper sat down with Kisa Dupe, the recent recipient of the 2024 Miss Washington HBCU teen title. In this episode, Dupe tells Damper about her experience participating in the Miss HBCU Teen pageant, a program and competition focused on providing scholarships and resources to high school girls of color who intend to attend an HBCU. Dupe was recently accepted into Spelman College.

There is a saying at Converge Media that "The uplift is real" and nothing epitomizes this phrase more than the consistent uplift of Black-owned businesses across our region by TraeAnna Holiday and her show The Day with Trae on Converge Media and Besa Gordon and her show Back2Besa on KCPQ FOX13 Seattle. Episode after episode there is a consistent and intentional uplift of Black-owned businesses across our region, especially Black woman-owned businesses.

Dr. Jeffrey Duchin, chief health officer for Public Health – Seattle & King County, explained to TraeAnna Holiday, host of The Day with Trae what you can do to protect yourself from the current uptick in COVID-19 cases throughout King County. According to the King County COVID-19 trends, COVID-19 cases began rising in November and have gradually increased.

Deaunte Damper makes his 2024 return to the Black Media Matters Studios next week as he fills in for TraeAnna Holiday on her show The Day With Trae. Damper will be guest-hosting Monday, January 29 - Wednesday, January 31st with Trae Holiday returning on Thursday, February 1st.

This week on the Day with Trae, host Trae Holiday sat down and talked to Melany Bell, a Seattle-based poet and writer from the African American Writers' Alliance (AAWA), and Tha Def Chef, a chef focused on giving back to the community through delicious food. Both guests and your host are ambassadors for the Covenant, a collective of anti-racist & anti-bias community organizers whose mission is to uplift the black community locally and globally. One of their main goals is the commitment to ending gun violence.

This Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Black Heritage Society of Washington State (BHS) and the Black Genealogy Research Group (BGRG) of Seattle will be hosting a workshop entitled "The Power of Black Narratives: Claiming Your Story" at 9:15 a.m. on the Garfield High School campus in the Central District of Seattle. Fast forward, and Holiday was the host of the Morning Update Show, a COVID-focused show which morphed into one of Seattle’s leading sources for news and current events.

In this episode, the community leader talks to Holiday about his organization's mission, how and why it was founded, and the numerous projects it's created to fight against gentrification and maintain Seattle's Black community in neighborhoods such as the Central District.

Starting the New Year, Trae Holiday is back with a brand new season of The Day with Trae. For this first episode, Holiday is joined by life coach Heru Tchaas Amen for Mindfullness Monday, a segment happening now every Monday. The founder of Heru Health, a holistic life and wellness service focused on helping others find peace and balance within their daily lives, Tchaas Amen offers a variety of programs on how to transform one's life positively by integrating various meditation exercises and visualization practices into one's life. In this episode, Tchaas Amen, an advocate of energy work, explains his "FIVE" tips for living a balanced and healthy life: "focus on one's energy work," set intentions with purpose, and visualize success every day.

Last month, the community showed up for Trae Holiday and The Day With Trae when she put out a call to appear in her new intro video at Medgar Evers. The video shoot was a part of a greater relaunch of her show, which will see a total revamp of her set, graphics, and more heading into the new year.

Last Thursday, our TraeAnna Holiday attended the opening night of Black Nativity presented by the Intiman Theater at the Broadway Performance Hall. After a decade-long hiatus, the return of Black Nativity has been one of the most highly anticipated productions this holiday season in Seattle’s Black community and beyond. The musical written by Langston Hughes was a tradition in the Emerald City for years and was anchored by the late Pat Wright, who was the founder of the Total Experience Gospel Choir, as well as the late Rev. Dr. Samuel B. McKinney, who was the pastor at Seattle’s Mout Zion Baptist Church for 40 years.

Recently, Award-Winning Radio Host on Mjini FM in Tanzania and Author of The Life In My Men Abby Plaatjes travelled to Seattle, Washington to spend time exploring the Pacific Northwest and promote her book.
