Besa Gordon: Converge Media’s Pop Culture Queen
If you were to ask Besa about her recent uptick in success, she will contribute a huge amount of it to Converge Media. Besa said it herself "I think it’s safe to say you don’t leave Converge the same way you came, it’s a different kind of team over here. We’re all truly a family, and everyone wants to see the next person win."
Since joining Converge in 2020 Besa has gone to her first Ballet and Broadway shows, won an EMMY with the entire Converge team, did live episodes of "Rewind With Besa" at The Paramount Theatre, and McCaw Hall. Besa Gordon, host of Back2Besa, gave FOX 13’s Good Day Seattle viewers a sneak peek of this weekend's episode, which will feature YOUniversal Fitness's Man Uplift program. This Tacoma-based program combines physical fitness with mental health, recognizing that strength isn't just about muscles.
As Besa explained to Good Day Seattle host Erin Mayovsky, Man Uplift redefines what it means to be strong. "It's actually changing these men's lives in other ways than just getting strong and buff, like it's actually changing their lives, mentally, but in the best way, and it's also building up their relationships at home," Besa shared. Participants engage in a monthly workout followed by a guided discussion with a therapist, fostering a safe space for men to open up about their emotions and challenges. This unique approach not only improves physical health but also strengthens relationships and emotional well-being.
Besa emphasized the importance of addressing mental health alongside physical fitness. “This program allows these men to have that workout, to kind of relax a little bit, but also have that conversation and realize it's okay to have feelings. It's okay to talk about your feelings,” she remarked. By carving out time for both, men can achieve a more holistic sense of well-being. The Man Uplift program offers a supportive community where men can connect, share their experiences, and realize they're not alone in their struggles.
Erin Mayovsky, the host of Good Day Seattle, was impressed with the program, stating, "That looks like a pretty cool program, inspiring, and it seems like it should be for all, women, and men."
Tune in to Back2Besa this Saturday at 10:30 pm on FOX 13 Seattle and see the replay Sunday at 10 am on FOX 13 + to learn more about this innovative program and its positive impact on the Tacoma community.
