Roasting Dreams: The Inspiring Journey of Campfire Coffee Co

Quincy and Whitni Henry’s coffee journey is a tale of resilience and ingenuity. When an unexpected layoff and a work injury struck back-to-back, they found themselves facing a daunting challenge: supporting their three kids, two cars, and a mortgage. With the pressure mounting, they embarked on a soul-searching drive through the mountains of Utah and Eastern Oregon after Thanksgiving. It was during this drive that inspiration struck, leading to the simple yet thrilling idea of creating an outdoorsy coffee shop that would encourage diverse groups to explore nature. And so, Campfire Coffee Co. was conceived.

Setting up the shop was anything but easy. While exploring Tacoma’s Hill Top neighborhood, we caught up with co-owner Quincy Henry to learn more about their journey. Quincy shared that starting Campfire Coffee Co. wasn’t just about necessity; it was also about passion and perseverance. Initially, they hadn’t planned to roast their own coffee beans. However, when roasting companies turned them away, they took matters into their own hands. This twist of fate led them to create a truly unique coffee experience.

Their story is a testament to the power of adaptability and determination. Quincy and Whitni’s journey is proof that with a bit of creativity and a lot of hard work, challenges can be transformed into opportunities.
