With the 20-year occupation over, the question remains: why were U.S. forces in Afghanistan in the first place? Originally sanctioned under the fabricated “war on terror,” the catastrophic invasion of the U.S. left hundreds of thousands Afghans dead while simultaneously placing billions of dollars in the hands of the military industrial complex and securing U.S oil and political interests in the region. But all is not lost. Even as the Taliban restore their fundamentalist hold on the country, scores of Afghans led by women are rising up to oppose the regime. How can the Left in the U.S. support their resistance and continue to fight back from within the imperialist heartland? Come and be part of the discussion!
