Fundraising for a Cause: Your attendance and support Sankofa Theatre raising $30,000 or more to sustain a year lease, pay our overhead and be able to hire a small team of employees to help run this much needed creative space in the growing art community at Inscape Arts and in the neighborhood.

Immerse yourself in the eloquence and beauty of poetry as our esteemed poets take the stage:

Abigail Echo-Hawk Storyteller. Poet. Artist. Pawnee a “Storyteller of Health”. Abigail Echo-Hawk, MA (Pawnee), was born in the heart of Alaska where she was raised in the traditional values of giving, respect for all, and love. Ms. Echo-Hawk currently serves as the Director of the Urban Indian Health Institute, and the Chief Research Officer at the Seattle Indian Health Board.

Joel Duran is a Dominican born Brooklyn raised poet from East New York. He channels his unique upbringing to capture raw emotion in love and the journey of life.

Leija Farr is a literary artist from South Seattle. In 2015, she served as the first Seattle Youth Poet Laureate and since then has shown her outstanding abilities within the arts scene with her passion for social justice

Tacoma-based artist, WaxTheProducer is a seasoned all-around entertainer. He has shared the stage with Grammy Award-winning artist Eric Bellinger and R&B singer Tink. A charismatic and personable performer with great crowd reception, his mix of smooth R&B melodic vocals and addicting instrumentals, makes for a well-received and memorable moment for any in attendance.
