Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Neither! I have trouble staying up after midnight and I love to sleep in. My natural clock wakes me up between 7am-9am but I rather lounge around in the bed than get up and do something productive if I have the choice.
What is your favorite movie?
Sister Act II: Back In The Habit and The Color Purple. Don’t ask me to choose. They both a cult classics.
What motivates you at work?
I always think of the work I do as my contribution to the culture. It's my way fueling the revolution in this crazy world we live in. I love to highlight stories that are looked over and dig deeper into the details and explain things to an audience that may not be into researching things like myself. I am also motivated by the people that are influenced by my commentary or feedback on a subject matter. It's important that the work I do has purpose.
As a Communications Director working in a political space, I oversee both the internal and external messaging on behalf of my Councilmember and the policies and procedures of our office. It is vital that the messaging and outreach to the constituent base is timely, relevant and easily understood.
What's something you're proud of?
I am proud of the woman I have become thus far. I have put in a lot of work to be my true and authentic self and believe me, the journey was not easy. I have overcome many personal and professional hardships and still I rise!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In five years I see myself raising a family while still be a career orientated go-getter! I want it all if I am honest. I want to continue to work my way up in communications and perhaps land somewhere in the Mayor's office or a government agency getting my Olivia Pope on. I want to do more live broadcasting and have more time on air.
I want to finally tie the knot with my significant other and have a wedding with all of our family and friends involved. I want to travel the world with him and our kids and just live life without regret.
Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
Goshhhh, I wish I did. Ok, so here is whatI think my superpower is. There are some people that are visionaries, they come up with these great concepts and ideas but they do not necessarily know how to put all the pieces together to make it happen. I am a person that can see things from a birdseye view. I can take a concept and see all the pieces to make it come together to bring someones vision to life.
