Artist Rodney King Hosts Event to Celebrate his Exhibition at Taswira

Yesterday, artist Rodney King hosted the closing for his art showcase at Taswira, Seattle’s African Streetwear gallery. Since April 1st, King’s art hasd been displayed at the store. Pieces include homages to pop culture in King’s unique style, which he’s developed over his career.

“I picked these pieces because they’re my latest stuff, and I wanted to show the evolution of my art,” King said. “The older pieces have heavier, more broad strokes, and lately I’ve been moving more into cubism and sharper lines.”

King says that he hopes to continue to build his audience around the region and beyond and that he’s grateful to Taswira for the chance to showcase his work as well as that of other Black artists in the city.

“We had a great exhibition here,” King said. “People are going to realize this is a hidden gem and that we have some great art here at Taswira and around the Pioneer Square area.”

You can find King’s next display at Simply Soulfood starting May 15th.
