Back2Besa Takes Center Stage with Primetime Special on FOX 13 Seattle

"Back2Besa" is gearing up for a special primetime episode that promises to be a celebration of Black excellence and community. Airing on Saturday, February 15th at 7 pm on FOX 13 Seattle, as well as Sunday at 6 pm and 10 am on FOX13+, this episode will showcase a range of stories and events that highlight the vibrancy and resilience of the Black communities across the region.

Host Besa Gordon will kick off the episode with details and a recap of the candle collaboration between Noir Lux Candle Bar, The Postman, and artist Jessie Lipscomb, 3 Black women-owned businesses all brought together by Intentionalist, to share love and light, while also encouraging the community to support Black-owned businesses.

Viewers will get an inside look at the Mariners Care Foundation's partnership with Baseball Beyond Borders and the MLB ID program, which aims to make baseball and softball more accessible to Black and brown kids. The episode will feature highlights from the recent MLB ID Tour stop in Seattle, where young players showcased their talents for a chance to be selected for upcoming MLB events.

Additionally, the episode will provide an update on the historic Black Firefighters House in Seattle and the ongoing legal battle to preserve its legacy. The house, a vital community hub for Black firefighters and the broader Seattle Black community, has been at the center of a legal dispute, and the episode will delve into the latest court ruling and its implications.

The culinary scene will be represented with a recap of the Northwest Gumbo Competition, where local chefs Chef Wally and Chef Red battled it out for the title of best gumbo. The event was not just a competition but a celebration of community and culture, bringing people together to enjoy delicious food and good company.

The episode will also highlight the "Let's Pull Up!" Community Meetup Tour, which kicked off at ‘The Scene’ in South Park. The tour aims to support Black-owned coffee shops and businesses while fostering a sense of community and connection among Black residents in the Puget Sound area.

Finally, the Legendary AF Mixer will be featured, showcasing the creativity and talent of Seattle and Tacoma's music and creative scene. The event provided a platform for artists to perform and connect with industry professionals, highlighting the vibrancy of the local music ecosystem.
