Besa Gordon Visits WOW Gallery And Has A Sitdown Conversation With Veronica Very

Written by Besa Gordon - I recently had the pleasure of visiting WOW Gallery in Pacific Place Mall (located in downtown Seattle) to have an in-depth and even emotional at times, conversation with Veronica Very about the space, why she decided to open it in what used to be Pacific Place Mall's Victoria's Secret, and what this space means to not only her, but our community as well.

While there, we reminisced on when I worked at VS with her late daughter and my bestie Ashle, I got a tour of the space with Mrs. V and her husband, Hiawatha Davis, who curated the art within the space, and we talked about why it's essential to for Black women to have a place like this to not only fellowship but also to release trauma, find themselves and more.

I'm not going to lie; there was a moment when Mrs. V read me a page from her Dear Sista coffee table book, which is full of love letters and affirmations. I kid you not; she randomly opened a page and had me pick the left or right page for her to read to me. Chile, I picked the right page, and that love letter hit so hard that I started balling. It truly felt like she wrote that letter for me.

If you've never been to WOW Gallery, fren.... You need to go! It's something about the energy in that space, it truly comes over you, and I can't even put the vibes into words, but I will say I felt like I released some trauma by the time I left the space.
