Moses Sun has been a fixture in my life since before I knew it. He and I are like brother and sister now and it feels like that has always been the case. I met Moses a while back through my partner when he was looking for models for a photo project he was working on. I went to his studio and when we sat down to discuss the shoot, we both just unloaded! We talked for a good hour before he even touched his camera about life, art, Seattle and everything in between. It was clear we were both in need of something we weren't getting before that encounter, and we've been connected ever since.

The art work of Moses Sun is so deep and vast you can get lost in one piece for decades. I tell him often that I have no idea how he does what he does but I am so glad he does it!! His abstract art style is the stuff entire courses in art school are made of. It's all encompassing yet emotional, vulnerable and uniquely Him. I've had the opportunity to witness Moses in action and let me tell you, it's like a theatrical play to see him move about a canvas. His rhythm about his mediums exemplifies his love for hip hop music and culture. His use of found objects and materials is reminiscent of the child-like need to explore and examine. And the almost otherworldly language that becomes transcribed into every piece he makes speaks to his connection with ancestors and the great beyond.

You should know Moses Sun not only for his incomparable artistic talent but also because he is an amazing human. He is always there when you need him. He makes space for people to be themselves and cares for others in a way that is almost foreign to most folks from the Northwest. He has been such a pivotal part of my life for the past few years I couldn't imagine life without his mentorship, encouragement and understanding. A new dawn approaches in the world of art and Moses Sun is ready for day break.
