Deaunte Damper’s ‘We Live In Color’ Enters its Third Season

“In Season 3, we’re not backing down — we’re doubling down.” - Deaunte Damper

With immense pride and passion, Deaunte Damper is kicking off the third season of his show “We Live In Color” on Thursday, April 17. The new season will highlight incredible authors, activists, and leaders of the Black LGBTQ+ community with a focus on policy, justice, and access.

Damper’s mission has always been to uplift the LGBTQ+ community and make space for others to learn and grow, a priority he deemed more important than ever. “In Season 3, we’re not backing down — we’re doubling down,” he exclaimed in response to the oppressive political tirade against the queer community.

Season 3 will showcase queer leadership from underserved areas of Washington State both inside and outside the Black Media Matters Studio. The season premiere will feature Beyoncé St. James, a trans drag performer from Spokane whose advocacy and resilience shines light on the joys and struggles of being Black and queer in less accepting communities. “It’s not just about Seattle. It’s all of us in the State of Washington,” Damper said.

Other notable guests on the season include HIV activist Dr. Renee McCoy, author Luther Hughes, MC Keisha Be Free, and many powerful voices shaping culture. Damper noted that “We Live In Color” has the power to solidify their legacies and spread their messages to those who most need to hear them. “The reason why this show is so important is because it gives an opportunity for young queer youth, for older adults to see a time capsule of where we're at now,” he said.

Damper’s vision for Season 3 is driven by his own experiences as a Black queer man whose community is relentlessly targeted. “Being on this platform, I'm able to create a light for our community, which is a light that I did not see myself,” he said, remembering friends he lost to suicide, addiction, homophobia, and transphobia. For Damper, the rigorous time and energy he puts into “We Live In Color” is for them.

Damper expressed gratitude for the team behind “We Live In Color,” including Erik Kalligraphy, Winfield Ezell Jr., and Alaia D’Alessandro. Converge Media’s guidance and support has allowed him to share powerful stories with confidence and pride. “Every year we grow, every year we create a space for community members to feel safe,” he said.

In anticipation for the season premiere, Damper encouraged the community to contribute their connections, segment ideas, and guest suggestions by emailing him at deaunte@whereweconverge.com or submitting a production request. Additionally, he asked for anyone with the means to donate in support of immaculate Black and queer storytelling.

“‘We Live in Color’ has never been just a show — it’s been a movement, a mirror, and a megaphone for those too often unheard,” he said.

The third season of “We Live In Color” premieres Thursday, April 17 at 8:00 a.m. (PST) on all Converge Media platforms.
