Embracing the Joys of Life: Besa Gordon's Goals for 2025
By Besa Gordon - A new year always feels like the perfect time to hit reset and start fresh, and 2025 is no exception. But before we get into what’s next, let me take a moment to look back at 2024. Whew—what a year! There were highs, like signing my second contract with FOX 13 Seattle and taking Back2Besa national on FOX Soul—huge milestones I’ll forever be proud of. But there were also low moments, like needing to take 10 weeks off from my show while managing my intense eczema flare-up which eventually turned into Topical Steroid Withdrawl (still dealing with that). Those weeks off weren’t easy, but they reminded me to truly listen to my body and give it the care it needs. When I returned to the show, I felt a renewed sense of gratitude—not just for what I do, but for the strength it took to pause and heal. So I guess you could say, that even with all the curveballs, I’ve learned a lot, and I’m grateful for every lesson.
This year, I’m making it all about balance and finding joy in the everyday. I love what I do, but I’m also learning that it’s just as important to make time for myself and the things that make me happy outside of work. Here’s what I’m focusing on for 2025:
Falling in Love With the Little Thing in Life Again
Life moves fast, and sometimes you’ve got to pause and let yourself soak it all in. This year, I’m making it a priority to really enjoy those small, magical moments—laughing with friends, taking my time to sip coffee in the mornings while I watch the sunrise, or simply finding moments of quiet to reflect. It’s those little things that remind me what life is all about.
Reconnecting With Myself
This year, I’m leaning into the things that bring me peace and joy outside of work. I’m talking about journaling my thoughts and dreams, hitting the gym (because keeping those endorphins high is everything), and even letting myself daydream like I used to. These aren’t just hobbies; they’re moments where I can breathe, and recharge. By focusing on these little joys, I’m making sure I’m living fully both on and off the clock.
Prioritizing Rest and Balance
This year, I’m reassessing my schedule to make sure I’m getting the rest I need. I have a tendency to feel like there’s never enough time, but I’ve learned that with proper planning, there’s plenty of space to accomplish what needs to be done and still take care of myself. Whether it’s sleeping in when my body asks for it or dedicating time to reset my space, I’m giving myself permission to slow down and be intentional with my time.
Deepening Family and Ancestral Connections
Time is precious, and I want to make the most of it by spending more of it with my parents and family and honoring the wisdom of my ancestors. There’s something grounding and healing about connecting with where you come from, and I’m looking forward to leaning into that even more this year.
A New Perspective for a New Year
2024 was a lot at times, but it taught me some real lessons. Life doesn’t always go as planned, but every curveball is a chance to learn, grow, and start fresh. So here we are, stepping into 2025 with open arms and big hopes, and even bigger dreams than in 2024.
What About You?
What’s on your heart for this year? What’s going to bring you joy, help you grow, or just make life feel good? Let’s remember to make space for ourselves (and the curveballs LOL), celebrate the wins, and honor the little moments that make life sweet.
Here’s to making 2025 everything we want it to be. Cheers to growth, love, and keeping that energy high!
