Award winning artist and film festival programmer, founder of his own production company, owner of 100 million views and counting through platforms such as Instagram and YouTube, in addition to partnering with companies like Alaska Airlines, Reebok, and Nordstroms, Artist LexScope has made an impressive imprint in the creative art field, and continues to expand his brand since its founding dating back to 2010.

“In 2010, that’s when I not only realized I wanted to shoot videos, turning this into a business came later, but at first I just knew I loved to shoot videos,” said LexScope. “This is what I want to do forever once I realized it was even a thing I could do.”

Using his talent for his own videos in the beginning then transitioning into shooting for others, LexScope evolved into doing videography for business which resulted in generating different types of income, and into the short film world.

In the beginning of his music journey, he went by the stage name of ‘A-Lex’ which stems from his name Alex and Malibu’s Most Wanted’s main character ‘B-Rad’.

“Nobody knows that actually, I was rapping under that moniker when I first started,” said LexScope. “When I started shooting videos I didn’t think people were going to take me seriously if I was the rap guy shooting videos.”

“I knew at the point I needed another moniker or something that wasn’t A-Lex or Alex. The very first thing I shot was under the name Larry Lethal and from that I got to LexScope. I don’t how I got to it, but I just knew I had to be called something else,” he continued.

Music essentially became a hobby for LexScope, and he wasn’t worrying about monetization or analytics. He describes it as his own therapeutic process. Music has helped him explain how he’s feeling, what he’s going through whether it’s relationships, family, or himself to figure out how he fits into the world by putting it on a song

“My music is about what I’m feeling at that specific time, for example I have a song by the name of ‘Get Your Sh*t Together’,” said LexScope. “It’s a pretty on the nose message, but it also was a note to myself and it’s cool that I see people working out to the song, or just doing stuff to get themselves together.”

His most recent record on April 20, titled ‘Blowing Dat Smoke’, is dedicated to those who smoke marijuana but his musical journey has shifted to the film world.

“A lot of the music stuff I’m working on is scores for films, it goes hand in hand, I have a lot of producer friends,” said LexScope. “Same engineers and producers from hip-hop and all the other stuff we’re doing, they write with me now when we’re scoring films.”

“Sound design for films, vocal tones we use for sounds, and sometimes we go record audio sounds from doors, it’s just a whole different world we evolved to,” he added.

Wearing many hats and adjusting to his scheduling on a daily basis, LexScope has the drive of being in this file of creating art for forever. Music introduced him into this world then drawing both of these things combined helped him get into film. There’s no retirement plan or age cap on when he can and cannot create art at the highest level there is.

Upcoming, LexScope has his monthly film festival called ‘Scope Screening’ opening night will be June 25 at the Egyptian Theatre located 805 E Pine St Seattle, WA  98122.

“It’s an opportunity for any local filmmaker and over the world, we have an emphasis on local filmmakers especially black, brown, or tan,” said LexScope. “Submitting their films in front of a large audience and we are one of the few film festivals that has an emphasis on music videos. There’s now an incentive to make music videos.”
