‘Mr. Sonic’ Nate McMillan Joins Iconic Sonics and Converge Media For Special Podcast

The Iconic Sonics podcast and Converge Media recently teamed up for a special City Edition episode featuring Sonics legend and NBA Head Coach Nate McMillan. Hosted by Converge Media Co-Founder Omari Salisbury, the episode was taped inside Converge’s Black Media Matters Studio. 

McMillan, who is known as “Mr. Sonic” thanks to his twelve year playing career in the Emerald City and five year stint as Sonics head coach, sat down with Salisbury to discuss the NBA, basketball in Seattle, and the fight to bring the Sonics home. 

McMillan and Salisbury discusses a variety of topics, including the shifting landscape of Seattle’s culture, Seattle’s reputation as a basketball city, and the ways McMillan is helping youth through his foundation.

They also talked about McMillan’s memories from when he first moved to Seattle after being drafted by the Sonics and his thoughts on the fight to bring the team back.

Since retiring from the NBA, McMillan has been a head coach for teams including the Sonics, Trailblazers, Pacers and Hawks. He spoke on his post-basketball career and the impact the Emerald City continues to have on him.
