Nate Jackson Makes His Big Screen Debut in “Spirited”

Get ready for the funniest feel-good movie of the season! Spirited, starring Will Ferrell, Ryan Reynolds, Octavia Spencer, and Tacoma’s own Nate Jackson, is in limited theaters now and on Apple TV. Converge Media’s TDUB and Jay Martin Jr attended a special screening of the film hosted by Nate Jackson at the Cinemark Reserve Theater in Bellevue.

If you’ve never been to the Cinemark Reserve, it’s a dine-in movie experience unlike any other. Jay and I had a nice drink at the full-service bar before entering the theater. We enjoyed great cocktails and a warm pretzel and watched as screening guests began to gather at the ticket booth. The theater also features a game room with pool tables and shuffleboards if you want to make a whole day of your movie-going experience!

Marcus and Jessica Trufant, among many other family, friends, and supporters of Nate’s, lined up enthusiastically to witness Nate’s silver screen debut. Finally, it was time to start the show!

As we took our seats, servers greeted us to take our food orders, Jay and I both got burgers which arrived in record time as we sat in our fully reclining chairs and watched the movie. Spirited is a musical adaptation of the Charles Dicken’s novel A Christmas Carol in which Clint Briggs, played by Ryan Reynolds, is the ‘perp’ and the ghost of Christmas Present, played by Will Ferrell takes a particular liking to Clint and breaks one too many rules in the hopes of getting him to change his grossly self-centered ways. Even next to heavy hitters like Ferrell, Reynolds, and Spencer, Nate Jackson shines. “It was a whole experience,” says Jay Martin Jr about the screening. “Nate did such an excellent job, and to know many of his lines were adlibbed, phenomenal!”

We left the theater satisfied and giddy as we ran into Nate and a crowd of his supporters, all singing their praises on how great of a job he did. It’s not too often you hear of a film of this caliber tossing its script in favor of an actor’s adlibs; it just goes to show Nate really showed up in his role.

We look forward to what Nate will do next on the silver screen, he couldn’t tell us what’s in the works, but best believe the man is working! And in the meantime, be sure to check out Nate Jacksons Super Funny Comedy Club in Lakewood, WA, where the star hosts the who’s who of stage comedians on a weekly basis.
