Being intrigued by a story, I feel, is an innate human instinct. Being deeply drawn into a tale that stokes our imagination is one of the best experiences. As a visual artist, the curiosity in knowing people's stories, journeys and special moments informs and inspires my work as a photographer and filmmaker. Photography has empowered me in so many ways, driving me to be more bold and curious about capturing people's stories. When I am working with folks on their projects it's a collaboration. What they want to be captured and how I interpret that direction. I look for unique angles and light to enhance the moments, frozen in a snapshot. Infusing a sense into them, drawing in whoever is to gaze at the photo and engaging their curiosity about what is happening within the frame, drawing the audience in, stoking their imagination.

Working with the crew at Converge Media in capturing behind the scenes of, The Morning Show, is amazingly inspiring. Every time, I walk away learning more, drawn deeper into the journey my community is building here in Seattle. Having permission to document moments that are building to something bigger than us all is exciting, humbling, and a strong motivating force. This organization is all about connections and elevating voice, I feel so lucky to be part of that.

I am thankful to Omari for the opportunity to bear witness to and showcase how he and the Converge Media team catalyze the community and propagate the message, Black Media Matters.
