Reflecting on 50 Years of Pride: Capitol Hill's PrideFest Celebrates Community and Progress
Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of Pride in style with its annual PrideFest. This vibrant event showcased the LGBTQIA+ community with an impressive lineup of performers across three stages, including Aleksa Manila, House of Moschino, Bacon Strip, and many more.
Attendees enjoyed a diverse range of entertainment, from drag shows and musical performances to a dog drag show. The festival spanned six blocks of Broadway and Cal Anderson Park, featuring beer gardens, community activities, and activism.
An all-ages stage at the AMP Memorial offered Drag Story Time with Aleksa Manila and Queer Youth Pride activities in partnership with Gay City. The Blaque Concert, hosted by Deaunte Damper of Converge Media's We Live In Color, set the tone for a joyous and empowering PrideFest.
As Damper aptly put it, "there ain't no pride till we arrive." The Capitol Hill PrideFest was a memorable celebration of community, identity, and progress. Here's to 50 more years of Pride in Seattle!
