Rewind With Besa: Joy Hollingsworth | Seattle City Council Candidate

Our very own Besa Gordon caught up with district 3 Seattle City Council candidate Joy Hollingsworth to talk about why she is running for District 3 and her plans for the community if she is elected.

When Besa asked about her plans for keeping the area safe, Joy said, "Talking to District 3 residents, they feel like safety is a holistic approach. So when we think about safety, it's not just a certain type of safety like police, EMTs, and Fire, but do we have enough food access points? Do people have housing? Do they feel safe in their area when they're walking down the street? Is the lighting correct?.... And so that's going to be a big thing; there have to be some restorative relationships there that have to be engaged in some aspect. And we have to center that relationship where people understand harm has been done. And so that's going to be one thing that I would love to help figure out how we [can] do that. Because we have a lot of people that want to feel safe."
