Seattle Pride: Honoring the Past, Fighting for the Future

The Lavender Rights Project's annual Black Trans Comedy Showcase, held at the Siff Cinema Egyptian on June 8th, was a resounding success. The event was more than just a night of laughter; it was a celebration of Black trans excellence, a powerful statement of resilience, and a testament to the unwavering spirit of the Black trans community.

Hosted by the one and only TS Madison, the showcase featured sharp, insightful, and hilarious performances by talented comedians Mx. Dahlia Belle, Quei Tann, and Sunkee Angel. The audience was treated to an evening of laughter, community, and empowerment, with TS Madison's infectious energy keeping the crowd roaring all night long.

Our Deatune Damper, host of We Live In Color, was in the building also, and interviewed the one and only TS Madison before the show and talked about the importance of inclusion and resilience in the trans community.

The Lavender Rights Project is a Black-led, trans-led, queer-led organization that works to uplift and empower the Black intersex and gender diverse community in Seattle through community organizing, advocacy, education, and storytelling. The Black Trans Comedy Showcase is just one of the many ways that the organization is working to create a more just and equitable world for all.
