Calling all Creatives the City of Seattle has new opportunities this Winter Season

The City of Seattle has partnered with a variety of different organizations in order to provide exciting opportunities for creatives. If you are an artist or creative we encourage you to check out the opportunities below from pop-up shop opportunities to full time positions there are a number of opportunities with approaching deadlines.

Seattle Restored - Rolling Applications

The Seattle Office of Economic Development is partnering with Seattle Good Business Network and Shunpike to match 25 vacant downtown Seattle storefronts with pop-up shops and art activations. Seattle Restored storefronts will be open from December 2021 through April 2022, providing flexible short-term activations that run for two to four months. There is no cost to participate, and the program will provide $2,500 in working capital to each participating small business and artist.

Shop to the Beat - Apply by December 17, 2021


This program partners with Gigs4U, and matches musicians and small retail businesses to provide in-store performances during peak hours, help increase foot traffic and sales for retailers, and provide competitive pay for musicians who were significantly impacted by the pandemic. Filmmaker Internship – Apply by December 17, 2021


All is Well Studios and Africatown Community Land Trust are hiring for a couple of Filmmaker Internships, and are hoping to hire young BIPOC creatives to start in January. $20/hr, three months in length, 20-40 hrs/wk. Apply by Dec. 17.



More Music @ The Moore – Apply by December 17, 2021


Seattle Theatre Group aka STG (Paramount, Moore, Neptune) will be selecting the region’s most talented emerging artists, ages 14-21, for a performance at the Moore Theatre. MM@M is seeking a great variety of style and genre including world, cultural, popular, classical and contemporary music. Bands, ensembles, and soloists are all encouraged to audition. STG is accepting video submissions for the first round. Learn more and apply by Dec. 17.


Partner on City Planning – Apply by December 20, 2021

The City of Seattle’s Department of Transportation (SDOT) and Office of Planning and Community Development (OPCD) want to partner with community-based organizations and small businesses to develop the Seattle transportation plan and the Seattle Comprehensive Plan Major Update. There are two levels of compensation. Engagement and information gathering is compensated at $5,000, and larger efforts to develop partnerships and policy recommendations is compensated at up to $30,000. Proposals due Dec. 20.



ARTS Recovery Manager position – Apply by December 21, 2021

 

The Office of Arts & Culture (ARTS) is hiring a temporary Recovery Manager. This position will support various Recovery Programs through 2023, manage a small team, be responsible for federal reporting efforts, and be responsive to the changing landscape for the cultural sector. $85,000-119,000 annuallyApplication deadline is Dec. 21.

 


2022 Northwest Folklife Festival – Apply by December 31, 2021


Applications are open for the 2022 Northwest Folklife Festival, May 27-31 – happening both in-person (at Seattle Center) and virtually. Apply to perform or run a workshop related to music, dance, or storytelling/spoken word – deadline is Dec. 31.



Northwest Film Forum Executive Director – Apply by January 3, 2021


Northwest Film Forum is seeking a collaborative, visionary leader to join the team in building on NWFF’s current trajectory of being a film center and community hub which centers equity, collective action, and community coalition-building as instrumental to creating and presenting film and media arts. The ideal candidate will deepen community alliances and center equity in all operations, as well as help lead the organization through a capital campaign to establish a new physical home. Ideal start date February 2022. $71,500 annuallyApplication deadline is Jan. 3.



SMASH Communications & Outreach Manager – Apply for priority by January 6, 2021

SMASH's mission is to keep local musicians healthy, and this new role will help the organization connect more musicians with health services and grow SMASH’s network of supporters. The Communication & Outreach Manager is responsible for envisioning, developing, and executing the communications and outreach work for programs, fundraising, and marketing. Day-to-day work is primarily remote, but there are meetings/events that are in person. Starting salary is between $57,000 and $75,000Priority application deadline is Jan 6.



Music Education Partnership Grants – Apply by January 28, 2021

Chorus America invites nonprofit organizations and schools to apply to the Music Education Partnership Grants program. This new funding opportunity will award $900,000+ in grants to support collaborations between community organizations and elementary, middle, or junior high schools during the 2022-23 school year. Grants will range from $15,000–$50,000 and include participation in a peer learning cohort. Applications are due Jan. 28.


Instrument Grants for Nonprofits & Schools – No Deadline

The Guitar Center Music Foundation awards (lightly used) instruments and equipment to eligible music instruction programs. The organization is currently awarding acoustic guitars, electric guitars, acoustic-electric guitars, bass guitars and the equipment necessary to play these instruments. There is no deadline; apply here.
