South Seattle Community Gathers For Annual Turkey Bowl Football Games

After preparing hundreds of Turkey sandwiches and warming kits, community members gathered at Brighton Field in Seattle on Sunday November 19th to play flag football. The football games are part of the 9th Annual Turkey Bowl week. The tradition brings people together for a week of service to the community including the distribution of the sandwiches and warming kits to tiny home villages, a community dinner on November 22nd and an adult flag football game on Thanksgiving day.

There was also a turkey giveaway powered by NBA star and Rainier Beach High School alum Dejounte Murray. Organized by FAM (Fatherhood Accountability Movement) and Seattle Parks & Recreation, the tradition has grown into a highly anticipated event each year which brings joy and resources to the community.
