Storm will be without Loyd and Magbegor due to injury against Sparks on September 15th

Seattle, WA - Storm All-Stars Jewell Loyd (knee) and Ezi Magbegor (concussion) have been ruled out of Sunday’s head-to-head season finale against the Los Angeles Sparks, the first of two games at Climate Pledge Arena before Seattle heads out on the road for the regular season finale against the Phoenix Mercury.

Magbegor sustained an eye injury in the second quarter against the Dallas Wings on Friday and did not return, being ruled out of that game with a left eye injury via the team’s PR. Only after further examination was the diagnosis of a concussion confirmed. Magbegor has not missed a game this season for the Storm, remaining an extremely reliable and valuable presence for Seattle as a paint presence and for her versatility offensively.

As for Loyd, there was no word of an injury during or after the game. Loyd also hasn’t missed a game this season for the Storm, and really hasn’t had much of an injury issue since July 8th of last season when she left a road game against the New York Liberty with a left ankle sprain.

With Seattle being down two starters, forward Jordan Horston and reserve center Mercedes Russell will most likely get the nod to start in those slots. Horston has been a consistent two-way threat and Russell is a 6’6 post who has had a reawakening in the second half of the season and is playing her best basketball right now.

Only three games remain in the regular season with a first-round matchup with the Las Vegas Aces all but guaranteed. The statuses of Loyd and Magbegor will be something to keep an eye on over the next several days.
