HBCU Swingman Classic Brings Black Joy, HBCU Baseball to Seattle
It was a historic day in the Emerald City as the first-ever Swingman Classic took over T-Mobile park on Friday and brought Seattle’s Black community to the stadium for a celebration of Black joy, baseball, and HBCUs. The game brought 50 of the best HBCU baseball players from around the country to Seattle to showcase their talents, while an HBCU college fair took place in the concourse.

A historic night at T-Mobile Park kicked off MLB All-Star Week 2023, as the first ever HBCU Swingman Classic saw the American League defeat the National League, an HBCU college fair, a drum line, dance routine, and so much more. A night that the 15,000+ strong crowd will remember forever has set the foundation for an event that will now take place annually wherever the MLB’s Midsummer Classic goes.
