Sami Whitcomb’s strong performance not enough as Sabrina Ionescu wins three-point contest
For the second time in her WNBA career and first with the Seattle Storm, guard Sami Whitcomb participated in the three-point contest during All-Star weekend and put up a strong performance. The quality effort was not enough, though, as New York Liberty point guard Sabrina Ionescu put up a historic performance to take home the hardware.
Storm can’t complete upset against Liberty in New York, Loyd suffers ankle sprain
In their third battle this season with the New York Liberty, the Seattle Storm once again fought hard all game long in a valiant attempt to upset one of the top teams in the WNBA, but ultimately could not get the closing moments late to go in their favor, partially in part to the fact that Jewell Loyd missed most of the quarter with a left ankle sprain.
Late comeback effort not enough; Storm fall to Liberty 81-66
The Seattle Storm dropped their third straight loss, falling to the New York Liberty in another contest that displayed many of the issues that they’d dealt with for most of the 2023 season in addition to a few other problems that Liberty took advantage of.
Shorthanded Storm use defense and grit to beat Liberty, 79-71 in overtime
The Seattle Storm defeated the New York Liberty with a gritty overtime win. Defense plus Jewell Loyd and Breanna Stewart were the keys.
