The Seattle Storm dropped the first contest of a three-game homestand, as rebounding and shot making struggles took center stage in a loss to the Washington Mystics.

The Seattle Storm overcame their shooting issues in the win over the Washington Mystics by turning them over 22 times for 29 points.

Heading into the 2023 All-Star break, the Seattle Storm continue to display growing pains and continuing issues that they can’t seem to completely fix, with some injuries currently adding into the mix of what’s going wrong. With the break coming now, it’s a big opportunity for Seattle and their players to hit rest and get back into a focus they’ll need for the second half of the season.

On an emotional day ahead of Sue Bird’s jersey retirement ceremony, the Seattle Storm nearly completed a historic comeback to beat the Washington Mystics, but simply ran out of time. In game one of their first round matchup, the Seattle Storm came back to defeat the Washington Mystics 86-83. Shooting guard Jewell Loyd overcame her slow start to score 12 of the last 14 points for the Storm. Seattle is now one game away from winning the series.
