Blazing a Trail: Lennie Childs is Laying the Groundwork for a Generation of Black Hockey Players
When Lennie Childs was thrown into the middle of an ice-hockey camp at five years old in Maryland, he had no idea it would spark a lifelong love affair with the sport to which he’s dedicated the last two decades of his life. Now, Childs has climbed the ladder to become one of the first Black coaches in NCAA hockey in his role as an Assistant with Union College.
Development camp scrimmage shows fast paced Seattle Kraken prospects
Ahead of their third playing season in existence, the Seattle Kraken held development camp, an opportunity to see the prospect pool that the franchise is building through the draft and tryouts like this. To wrap up the five-day event, the Kraken held a scrimmage between two groups of the prospects in front of a packed crowd at Kraken Community Iceplex, where there was plenty of offense to witness, just like the teams NHL season displayed this past year.
