Baseball For All - RBI West Regional Returns To Seattle This Summer Hosted by Baseball Beyond Borders

Last year, the RBI West Regional took place in Seattle and was hosted by Baseball Beyond Borders. Our crew was at Husky Stadium to document the proceedings.

This summer, Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities returns to the Emerald City this summer for the west regional tournament. Featuring the best youth baseball and softball programs from the region, the tournament brings together youth ballplayers for a week of games and community growth. Taking place from July 18-21, the tournament will be hosted by Baseball Beyond Borders. Converge Media is proud to partner with BBB as they bring this great event back to Seattle.

“Last year’s event was such a great showcase of the talent that’s present throughout our communities around the country,” Baseball Beyond Borders Founder Bookie Gates said. “Seeing teams from Washington, California, Arizona, and more come together to compete and learn from one another was a truly special moment and I’m excited that we’re going to have the chance to do it again.

Last year, the tournament brought teams to compete at fields around the area, with the final taking place at Husky stadium. The tournament features both baseball and softball programs, offering high level competition and exposure while extending the reach of the game.

“It’s so important that we continue to provide access for these kids to play the game,” Gates said. “So often, communities of color are overlooked and so having the opportunity to spread the game and let people know that baseball is for everyone is what it’s all about.”

The decision to bring back the RBI West Regional Tournament to Seattle underscores the city's status as a hub for baseball enthusiasm and inclusivity. From its scenic backdrop of the Puget Sound to its rich history of supporting youth sports programs, Seattle provides an ideal setting for this premier event.

One of the key highlights of the RBI West Regional Tournament is its emphasis on inclusivity and accessibility. The RBI program, established by MLB in 1989, aims to provide opportunities for young people from underserved communities to play baseball and softball. By bringing the tournament to Seattle for a second year, organizers are reaffirming their commitment to reaching and engaging youth from diverse backgrounds.

Moreover, the tournament serves as a catalyst for community involvement and collaboration. Local businesses, civic organizations, and volunteers rally together to support the event, whether through sponsorship, volunteering, or simply cheering from the stands. This spirit of unity and shared purpose creates a sense of belonging and pride among participants and spectators alike.

Converge Media will once again partner on the event, so keep an eye out for more announcements in the upcoming months. Last year, our team produced a two videos about the tournament which you can watch at the top of the article and below.
