Winfield Ezell Jr. Named Chief Storyteller at Converge Media

Converge Media is pleased to announce the appointment of Winfield Ezell Jr. as its new Chief Storyteller. Ezell has been an integral part of the Converge Media team, directing the TV show Back2Besa on FOX 13 Seattle and FOX SOUL, as well as directing impactful films like "Facing the Reign," which tells the story of Jessa Thomas, the first African American Miss Teen Rodeo Washington. His directorial work also includes "Sankofa Theater Inscape Finale" and the Emmy-nominated "Reconciliation Tour”.

As Chief Storyteller, Ezell will be responsible for developing and overseeing Converge Media's narrative vision, ensuring that all productions align with the company's brand identity and core message. He will collaborate closely with writers, directors, and producers to refine story concepts, provide creative input on script development, and oversee the overall creative vision of projects.

Ezell's proven ability to craft compelling narratives with a deep understanding of character development, plot structure, and thematic depth makes him an ideal fit for this role. His extensive knowledge of the film, television, and digital content landscape, along with his exceptional storytelling ability and creative vision, will be instrumental in shaping Converge Media's future productions.

Furthermore, Ezell will lead and mentor a team of story editors, writers, and creative consultants, fostering a collaborative and innovative creative environment. His leadership qualities and excellent communication skills will ensure effective collaboration with diverse teams and drive high-quality storytelling at Converge Media.

Ezell has been connected to the creative scene in Seattle for over two decades. He sharpened his storytelling skills on the independent film scene while being a regular collaborator on the music scene with some of Seattle’s finest musicians.

Ezell is a product of Washington State University’s Murrow College of Communication and is a Founding member and Chair of the Wheelhouse Foundation Board. Wheelhouse is a non-profit under Washington Filmworks. He also serves on the Board of Inspired Child Community(Seattle, WA) and the Safehouse Black History Museum(Greensboro, AL).

With Ezell at the helm of its narrative strategy, Converge Media is poised to continue its mission of uplifting Black stories and voices, creating content that resonates with audiences and fosters a strong brand identity through the power of storytelling.
