On June 11th, 2023, Seattle Storm and basketball legend Sue Bird put the final period on the basketball chapter of her life. Bird’s iconic #10 jersey was raised to the rafters of Climate Pledge Arena, in front of a crowd of 15k strong following the Storm’s loss to the Washington Mystics.

Storm use big comeback effort to get first win in 66-63 victory over Sparks
The Seattle Storm collected their first win of the 2023 season, toppling the Los Angeles Sparks and making the second biggest comeback (points wise) in franchise history. Seattle got big efforts from Jewell Loyd, Jordan Horston, and Ezi Magbegor, as the Storm broke their 0-4 start to the season.

In the second ever Seattle vs Portland doubleheader, the OL Reign fell to the Portland Thorns as the Reign’s attacking quality failed to beat Portland’s defense. On the other end, the Thorns found two pockets of space to score goals that the Reign couldn’t match in the end.

Following back to back losses, the Seattle Sounders were able to bounce back with a gritty and grinding 1-0 victory over the New York Red Bulls, an MLS side that they hadn’t faced in nearly four years. Strong defense helped Seattle record their 8th clean sheet on the year, and an early goal by Jordan Morris gave them the score they needed.
