One Seattle Day of Remembrance for Gun Violence Victims

On Monday, September 25, 2023, Mayor Harrell and the City of Seattle, the Alliance for Gun Responsibility, and community partners will host the One Seattle Day of Remembrance for Gun Violence Victims. This event, which coincides with the National Day of Remembrance for Homicide Victims, is an opportunity for our city to come together to recognize those we’ve lost to gun violence, remember their lives, and honor the impacted loved ones and communities who carry their legacies.

One Seattle Day of Remembrance for Gun Violence Victims will welcome keynote speaker Audrey Jackson, mother of the late hip-hop artist Bashar “Pop Smoke” Jackson, and Chair of the Shoot for the Stars Foundation, uplift the Mothers Impacted by Gun Violence group, recognize community-based partners doing frontline work to address gun violence, and raise awareness of the local solutions and services provided to reduce gun violence in Seattle and King County.

During the event, we will honor those we have lost in Seattle/King County to homicide  at the end of the program with a memorial video. Community members are invited to submit the name, birthdate, date lost to gun violence and a high-quality, appropriate photo of their loved one to be included in the memorial video. Please submit by Friday, September 22, 2023.
