Currently serving as the Artistic Director of Seattle Children’s Theatre, Idris is dedicated to creating and producing relevant content that speaks to intergenerational audiences, with over 60 dynamic and diverse original plays under his belt, including "How We Got On," "Hype Man: A Break Beat Play," "The Boy Who Kissed The Sky," and the groundbreaking "Free Play" series, Goodwin's work is celebrated nationwide. His storytelling extends beyond the stage, with original content created for Nickelodeon, HBO Def Poetry, and Wondery. His first picture book, "Your House is Not Just A House," has been recently released by Clarion/Harper Collins, adding to his impressive repertoire. Additionally, Idris engages audiences weekly on the Break Beat Week Podcast, where he creatively summarizes top stories in hip-hop form.

Committed to accessibility and impact, Goodwin’s work is widely produced across the country by professional, community, and academic institutions. His leadership roles extend beyond his creative endeavors; as the Board President of Theater For Young Audiences/USA, he champions the essential role of performing arts in society.
